Mental health in the Islam has been done through the consideration of the relationship between spirituality and therapy. The canceling of the Islamic begun through the review of science, religion, and spirituality since it can respond to the inner self of the believer. This lead to the question of whether there is a model for the Muslim counseling system such as whether the Islamic counseling is made through the needs of the people at that time and others in diverse relations (Curlin, Lawrence, Odell, Chin, Lantos, Koenig & Meador, 2007). Therefore, we argue that the combination of the aspects in the changes of the Islamic counseling is itself intrinsically Islamic.
Moreover, one of the aspects that are vital to look at is the Islamic science of self commonly known as the Nafsiyyat which assist in the study of the human nature and the relationship that he or she has with God, oneself, other people around and the entire universe. The science provides insight of what the Koran verse and the theoretical basis that is often used in the Islamic counseling model. Several models are perhaps utilized in the modification and understanding of all the Islamic and the people of the universe (Curlin, Lawrence, Odell, Chin, Lantos, Koenig & Meador, 2007).
The history of the Islamic counseling
To learn and understand the development of the Islamic counseling in the present times it is imperative to understand how the Islamic scholars responded to the challenges of their times and perhaps to know the historical perspective on the mental health of the Islam. This aspect is significant to show how Islam has frosted the relationship between religion and reason and on the other hand to demonstrate something of Islam breath and mental health of the people in the society. A major and a key theme that serves in bringing up most of the approaches in the Islamic counseling and psychotherapy is the aspect of openness and the thorough understanding of various knowledge and spirituality. Moreover, what makes a believer is the belief of knowledge and skills that make up a religion and understanding at least the most important aspect of the life a Muslim. Therefore, the psychotherapist made it important that to understand the other person the other must fully understand him or herself. Individuals who have gone through problems and depression in life has the upper hand in the understanding of the other party who may be at that present time going through the same situation in life (Curlin, Lawrence, Odell, Chin, Lantos, Koenig & Meador, 2007). This kind of reason is related to the aspect of experience, and that is why in the culture of Islam councilors must be a person full of knowledge, guided by the historical dimension of the Islamic community. And perhaps grounded with the present wisdom and the shifting of the technological aspect to understand the people in the current times and the changing times.
In a nutshell, our model of the Islamic counseling is almost similar to the humanistic one through the aspect of putting aside one’s agenda while at the same time engaging in the invitation of the one beginning or rather the roots of once consciousness. Mostly they do this through a lot of intervention about the self-discipline of their examinations, the quality of empathy, their self-awareness and essential techniques that they use and the tremendous result that they get through the entire process. The nature of the system is dependent on the viability of understanding and is based on the qualities that can be related to the Islamic cultures and relations for further understanding (Curlin, Lawrence, Odell, Chin, Lantos, Koenig & Meador, 2007).

Monitoring the future survey of the use of drugs and the attitudes they exhibit has been encouraging due to the decline of the past years use of the illicit drugs as marijuana has continually shown some decline from the levels based on the survey that was carried out recently. The study survey was done among the American youths of 8th, 10th and 12th graders in the society to find out the use of the drugs. Moreover, according to a survey, it was perceived that the risk of harm and disapproval of the youths using several or some substances that might destroy their health. Among the results, the survey also showed that the use of marijuana among the 12th graders in the states with marijuana laws has increased compared to the nations without the marijuana laws (Gunzerath, Faden, Zakhari & Warren, 2004).
